TOP 40 COUNTRIES BY NUMBER OF RESEARCH PAPERS PUBLISHED IN 2011

Recently, the journal Nature reviewed the scientific activity in the year 2011 (http://www.nature.com/news/365-days-2011-in-review-1.9684). The review highlights the top 40 countries by the number of research papers published during 2011, making use of data obtained from Thomson Reuters / Web of Science. A good way to make an idea how much science and technology activities are part of the common life of each country can be attained through the ratio between the total number of published papers and the total number of habitants in each country. The ratio corresponding to each one of the countries mentioned by Nature are listed below.

Recientemente, la revista Nature examinó la actividad científica en el año 2011 (http://www.nature.com/news/365-days-2011-in-review-1.9684). El informe destaca a los 40 países que publicaron más artículos de investigación durante el año 2011, haciendo uso de los datos obtenidos a través de Thomson Reuters / Web of Science. Una buen modo de tener una idea de qué tanto las actividades de ciencia y tecnología están inmersas en la vida común de cada país se puede lograr a través de dividir el número total de artículos publicados entre el número total de habitantes de cada país. A continuación se muestra el valor que se obtiene para cada uno de los países mencionados por Nature.
